i went to graduation today. i went back and forth about whether to go, but i'm really glad i did. as i mentioned, several of ours finished this year. so it was really nice to see them get their hoods. i thought i might cry but i managed to hold it together. the good news is that our hoods apparently are SCHOOL colors, not salmon colors, so they are baby blue and gold and royal blue. i can definitely get down with that. i wish i had a digital camera, then i would post a picture, but i guess you guys can just see it in a few years when i finally get one of my very own!!
the more uncomfortable news is that during the brunch afterwards when i was trying not to freeze from the cool breeze (southern girl, born and bred, through and through), i had the distinct displeasure of standing about 5 feet from my ex. BLEGH. the ammeliorating news is that since we ended so many times and finally on a pretty sour note, i didn't have to intereact with him or the gaggle of friends he was standing with, including his best friend/girlfriend who graduated. at least i can rest easy with the knowledge that they will soon both be in maryland together.
[what?!? i'm not bitter...]
so afterwards i went directly home and called my advisor. we talked for about 45 minutes about my dissertation, and i feel really good about it. i actually feel like i'll be able to finish before i go crazy! we'll see. keep me in your thoughts.
now, i'm off to a celebratory party. i really need to get there before the graduate of honor drinks too many taquila shots. she gets friendly...
